Root Islamic Education demonstrates that the most complete expression of the sunna was embodied in the practice (‘amal) of the first three generations of the people of Madinah which was captured for posterity by Imam Malik in his book al-Muwatta. Prophet said: “I have left among you two things and as long as you hold fast to them you will not go astray: the Book of Allah and the sunnah of His Prophet.
